I was really disappointed. Zero character development. Consisted mainly of watching guns fire and things blowing up unnecessarily. Also there was too much time watching unimportant military people staring at computers and muttering crap down microphones. Most new characters where either annoying or you just did not care about them. Its also too long for what it is. I checked wikipedia for an idea of what the critics thought and they agree.

I have no idea what to do with myself mind

Just got sims 3... feels strange as its the first time I have played a vanilla sims game with no expansion pack extras. If anyone wants to ask me anything about it go ahead but I have only owned it for a day.

One thing I can say is even though its bare bones, I would not go back to my earlyer sims games with their army of expansion packs. You can essentually do everything you could do in the other games. Go to work, play chess, stargaze and go to shops but its added fun exttra or made previously boring things fun. Ill elaborate. Instead of jsut pl,aying chess, your sim can challege others into ranked matches to rise up to be the neighboorhood chess champion. Or instead of just stargazing, you can find stars and name them and get money for finding them. When you used to go to a shop or a club or whatever, you had to undergo a series of loading screens. Now you dont and you can even watch your sim drive there. Shops no longer have to be designed as there are now all sorts of buildings with functions that you send your sim inside. Ok, so its not as creative but it feels smoother. I think you can go to other peoples houses and walk around but I have yet to try. You can also turn off a lot of the life progression introduced in 2 so purists can not complain as they can ignore the extras but they are missing out.
